Jewish Terminology

This week’s Jewish terminology word is: macaroon

This week’s Jewish terminology word is: a yummy a delicious English word treat… macaroon . Or as I like to call more more and yes please I’ll take a few 10 or 20 more of these delicious delightful treats.

The JPS Dictionary of Jewish Words by Joyce Eisenberg, and Ellen Scolnic, 2001 copyright 1st edition; defines our Jewish terminology word of the week: macaroon

An english noun for a flourless, chewy ball-shaped cookie made with ground nuts, coconut, egg whites, and other ingredients. Macaroons come in many flavors, such as chocolate chip, chocolate covered, and almond. Because they contain no flour or yeast, macaroons are pesachdik and therefore a favorite Pesach treat.

Sounds wonderful!

 Blessings of the Torah:

Why Blessings of the Torah?:

Before we begin the Study of the Torah a Blessing is done. In saying the Blessing we are for filling a mitzvah and Blessing HaShem, of Glory and Truth’s beautiful Torah.  A Mitzvah is defined basically as:

  1. A commandment of the Jewish law.
  2. The fulfillment of such a commandment.
  3. A worthy deed.

I, say these Blessings every morning during my morning prayers. And, to ensure I am not leading others into to improper practices, I want to ensure I repeat the Blessings of HaShem, Our Merciful Father’s Torah just incase others may not have yet had a chance today.

Blessings of the Torah:

Blessed are You, HaShem our God, King of the Universe, Who sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us to be engrossed in the words of Torah.

HaShem our God, please make the words of Your Torah pleasant in our mouths and in the mouths of Your people Israel. And may we and our descendants [and the descendants of our descendants] and the descendants of Your people the House of Israel, all know Your Name and be students of Your Torah for its own sake. Blessed are You, HaShem Who teaches Torah to His people, Israel.

Blessed are You, HaShem our God, King of the Universe Who chose us from among all the peoples and gave us His Torah. Blessed are You, HaShem, Giver of the Torah!

Blessing before the reading of the Torah:

Bor’chu es ado-noy ha-m’voroch.
Bless the L-rd who is blessed.

Congregation and Oleh say:
Boruch ado-noy ha-m’voroch l’olom vo-ed.
Blessed be the L-rd who is blessed for all eternity.

Oleh continues:
Boruch atoh ado-noy elo-haynu melech ho-olom, asher bochar bonu mikol ha-amim, v’nosan lonu es toroso. Boruch atoh ado-noy, nosayn ha-toroh.
Blessed are You, L-rd our G‑d, King of the universe, who has chosen us from among all the nations and given us His Torah. Blessed are You L-rd, who gives the Torah.

Let us begin with today’s lesson!

Bible Study Handbook Sources I love to use are linked below as well as on our website. I did take the advice from others and create a page to the website that titled What Marie Likes. I wanted to create a page that had some of my favorite items to share with others.

Some of this items or sources I have on this page I have discussed on the Live and Uploaded Bible Studies.

I understand that sometimes sources or resources that are authentic and Jewish may be difficult to find….. this page aims to help or assist for those seeking some of the gems and glories that might be hidden in and of Judaism.

I am not paid to endorse any thing on this Bible Study of page unless directly noted. I truly do want to help make others journey or study in Torah…a little more easy and enjoyable.

Please feel free to message on Facebook or IG with any questions related to this page. I fully admit I am not an expert, but I will do my best to help take some looks around.

Allllllll….. that being said enjoy:

Devarim ch 15:

verses 1 thru 5

Every seventh year you shall practice remission of debts.

This shall be the nature of the remission: all creditors shall remit the due that they claim from their fellow [Israelites]; they shall not dun their fellow [Israelites] or kin, for the remission proclaimed is of יהוה.

You may dun the foreigner; but you must remit whatever is due you from your kin.

There shall be no needy among you—since your God יהוה will bless you in the land that your God יהוה is giving you as a hereditary portion—

if only you heed your God יהוה and take care to keep all this Instruction that I enjoin upon you this day.

commentary: Regarding Family and Tribe members

I have heard many teach this verses a variety of ways. Some says that the remission of debt can be emotional such as guilt or bitterness. While others have said the remission of debt is strictly material. I think there is some thing in between that is possible. Some times forgiving someone emotionally is also a material factor. Often times we can place such a high value on hurt and negative, we almost don’t want to give the attachment to the painful or the pain it and them caused.

It’s a little odd to think of debt and remission of in this maybe perhaps, but take a second and think of the persons we have heard of that due to un-forgiveness they met a dangerous or shameful end. I can think of quite a bit of people who never got over a divorce, or a betrayal, money issues and so on. Families and family members that are still harboring hurt and hate decades later; what a waste.

Those persons are doing themselves a great injustice by choosing to remain slaves to a temporary event or events. They are making some thing permanent that was meant most likely as a testing from G-d. The story of Joseph always comes to mind when I hear or think of situations like this.

I don’t think we let are selves be door mats or whipping boys; of course not. But, after Joseph forgave his brothers, he set them up in a land of plenty, ensure their safety, and then remain away from them and saw them very little.

This tells me we don’t have to let harmful or evil people remain in lives for a daily or yearly meetings, but we should never aim revenge or live off of hate and discontent.

Chapter 15 Devarim verses 6 thru 8

For your God יהוה will bless you as promised: you will extend loans to many nations, but require none yourself; you will dominate many nations, but they will not dominate you.

If, however, there is a needy person among you, one of your kin in any of your settlements in the land that your God יהוה is giving you, do not harden your heart and shut your hand against your needy kin.

Rather, you must open your hand and lend whatever is sufficient to meet the need.

commentary:

We are to ensure that our brothers and sisters of our nation are not in lack nor in need. We are to do this ahead of helping out or leading out to another nation. This makes perfect sense. If ones house is not in order, they are not able to support, guide, or aide others to the full capacity of honoring G-d for His glory. We are to give, support, lead, and lend as according to the need. Not over board or in super abundance.

Why might this be?

Because, we are assisting in making someone capable or to over come an adversity. We are not aiming to create victims or surfs. Those who support evil; they would love more dependent slaves to control and manipulate. But, we are Israel! We birth rulers, prophets, judges, and priest; not slaves and victims.

Devarim chapter 15 verses 9 thru 12

Beware lest you harbor the base thought, “The seventh year, the year of remission, is approaching,” so that you are mean and give nothing to your needy kin—who will cry out to יהוה against you, and you will incur guilt.

Give readily and have no regrets when you do so, for in return your God יהוה will bless you in all your efforts and in all your undertakings.

For there will never cease to be needy ones in your land, which is why I command you: open your hand to the poor and needy kin in your land.

If a fellow Hebrew man—or woman—is sold to you, he shall serve you six years, and in the seventh year you shall set him free.

commentary:

The beauty of not incurring any guilt.

Giving and doing and serving and making ready; with a joyful pleasure enthusiastic heart!

Can this really be a thing?

Yes and Yes.

Just like we should seek out justice and pursue it. So, should we seek out opportunities to ensure there is no needy among us. And, in the event we find someone who is need, we should rejoice for the L-d our G-d has chosen us for an amazing task or fleet!

The opportunity to be a moshiach to another of the tribe or family in need.

Oh, yes indeed. We could have our portion written in HaShem’s Torah, as someone who brought Glory to HaShem’ name! (Blessed be He) How amazing would that be?!

Devarim verses 13 thru 18

When you set him free, do not let him go empty-handed:

Furnish him out of the flock, threshing floor, and vat, with which your God יהוה has blessed you.

Bear in mind that you were slaves in the land of Egypt and your God יהוה redeemed you; therefore I enjoin this commandment upon you today.

But should he say to you, “I do not want to leave you”—for he loves you and your household and is happy with you—

you shall take an awl and put it through his ear into the door, and he shall become your slave in perpetuity. Do the same with your female slave.

When you do set either one free, do not feel aggrieved; for in the six years you have been given double the service of a hired worker. Moreover, your God יהוה will bless you in all you do.

commentary:

I am sure many could not imagine a slave loving their master to the degree of when giving the choice to be set free; they refuse. But, especially in Judaism this was the case. The Nation of Israel was known for treating their “slaves” which was really, hired fellow Jews, so well that many opted to be a slave rather than a free man.

Now, for the record choosing to be a slave was frowned upon. It showed a lack of responsibility and maturity on the individuals choosing to become or remain a slave. Once a family or individual had worked off debt or charge due to some criminal activity; they were expected to learn their lesson and go out into society and be productive members of the Nation of Israel.

Someone, especially a man who chose to remain a slave was kind of seen as lazy and wicked.

But, those who chose to learn from their slavery experience and go out and do amazing Glorious works for HaShem, were celebrated as victorious over comers. Redeemers of their family line and name. To the point when they left the slave owner house hold… they left well off and better than before they came.

Devarim chapter 15 verses 19 thru 23

You shall consecrate to your God יהוה all male firstlings that are born in your herd and in your flock: you must not work your firstling ox or shear your firstling sheep.

You and your household shall eat it annually before your God יהוה in the place that יהוה will choose.

But if it has a defect, lameness or blindness, any serious defect, you shall not sacrifice it to your God יהוה.

Eat it in your settlements, the impure among you no less than the pure, just like the gazelle and the deer.

Only you must not partake of its blood; you shall pour it out on the ground like water.

commentary:

definition of consecrate:

transitive verb

  1. To declare or set apart as sacred.
  2. To sanctify (bread and wine) for Eucharistic use through a ritual regarded by some Christian churches as effecting transubstantiation.
  3. To initiate (a priest) into the order of bishops.

I think is it absolutely beautiful the word consecrated, especially when HaShem Our Father tells us we are consecrated to and for Him. His treasured people.

Why would we what to be anything else?

Why would we want to look, think, talk, and live like those who are not?

Those who reject Almighty G-D and His Torah?

It doesn’t really make any sense does it?

Well, here is to one day us all making and having some sense.

Amen and Amen … #thankyouHaShem

Congratulations! you have made through another Bible Study! Sounds some Praise and Joy to Our Father who is in Heaven!

Glory to the One and Only Living G-D… HaShem!

I pray that everyone, everywhere, repents and returns to the only one who can save HaShem!

The True and Only Living G-d!

Receive Torah ….be back in the covenant of G-d.

Be at the Har Sinai say yes and be saved…….. the choice is yours.

Amen and Amen

In-conclusion,

I am left with the same thoughts that I have had since Season 1.

Everyone has a choice… and everything has a choice.

Accept the Torah, turn from evil and do good, or even chose this day whom one shall serve.

In any case…. some will chose the Life in Torah with HaShem. and… sadly some will chose the sword.

OAmein and OAmein

Blessings after reading the Torah.

Boruch atoh ado-noy elo-haynu melech ho-olom, asher nosan lonu toras emes, v’cha-yay olom nota b’sochaynu. Boruch atoh ado-noy , nosayn ha-toroh.

friendly reminder:

Haftara this portion is

Isaiah chapter 54 verse 11 thru chapter 55 verse 5

Unhappy, storm-tossed one, uncomforted!
I will lay carbuncles as your building stones
And make your foundations of sapphires.

I will make your battlements of rubies,
Your gates of precious stones,
The whole encircling wall of gems.

And all your children shall be disciples of the LORD,
And great shall be the happiness of your children;

You shall be established through righteousness.
You shall be safe from oppression,
And shall have no fear;
From ruin, and it shall not come near you.

Surely no harm can be done
Without My consent:
Whoever would harm you
Shall fall because of you.

It is I who created the smith
To fan the charcoal fire
And produce the tools for his work;
So it is I who create
The instruments of havoc.

No weapon formed against you
Shall succeed,
And every tongue that contends with you at law
You shall defeat.
Such is the lot of the servants of the LORD,
Such their triumph through Me
—declares the LORD.

chapter 55

Ho, all who are thirsty,
Come for water,
Even if you have no money;
Come, buy food and eat:
Buy food without money,
Wine and milk without cost.

Why do you spend money for what is not bread,
Your earnings for what does not satisfy?
Give heed to Me,
And you shall eat choice food
And enjoy the richest viands.

Incline your ear and come to Me;
Hearken, and you shall be revived.
And I will make with you an everlasting covenant,
The enduring loyalty promised to David.

A prince and commander of peoples,

So you shall summon a nation you did not know,
And a nation that did not know you
Shall come running to you-a
For the sake of the LORD your God,
The Holy One of Israel who has glorified you.

Yeesa Adonai panav elecha viyasem lecha shalom

“The L-d bless you and keep you;
The L-d make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The L-d lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.” ’

How we conduct Bible Studies here:

We believe in One and Only One G-D. HaShem; The G-D of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

We do not and will not Pray in any others name or Praise any other, but HaShem.

Exodus chapter 20: 2-14.

God spoke all these words, saying:

I the LORD am your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, the house of bondage:

You shall have no other gods besides Me.

You shall not make for yourself a sculptured image, or any likeness of what is in the heavens above, or on the earth below, or in the waters under the earth.

You shall not bow down to them or serve them. For I the LORD your God am an impassioned God, visiting the guilt of the parents upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generations of those who reject Me,

but showing kindness to the thousandth generation of those who love Me and keep My commandments.

We believe G-D has called each of us to search matters out.

(It is the glory of God to conceal a matter,
And the glory of a king to plumb a matter.

Like the heavens in their height, like the earth in its depth, Is the mind of kings—unfathomable.. Proverbs 25:2 -3)

This is one reason why here at Marie Speaks G-D’s Grace Bible Study, we review several historical references and resources, of which we provide links and or screen shots for others to study at their leisure.

We have been directed by G-D Wonderful and Almighty, to go Book by Book, Verse by Verse; sharing HIS Torah and Tanakh.

We believe as directed by G-D Our Heavenly Father, learning and growing in Torah and Tanakh leads to understanding and wisdom; this shall only be achieved in reading, studying, and sharing HIS Word for ourselves; not relying on man.

Learning, growing, and studying with OUR L-D is to be done with others that are like minded, but more so during our personal time.

The BLOGs are written to assist those just beginning to study the BIBLE as a starting point. The Live or recorded Bible Studies are to cover and release opportunities and guidance, but ultimately is ones own personal responsibility to rule, govern, and be purposeful in their relationship with G-D.

Proverbs 22: 4 thru 6

The effect of humility is fear of the LORD,
Wealth, honor, and life.

Thorns and snares are in the path of the crooked;
He who values his life will keep far from them.

Train a lad in the way he ought to go;
He will not swerve from it even in old age.

Ezekiel 18: 20 thru 22

The person who sins, he alone shall die. A child shall not share the burden of a parent’s guilt, nor shall a parent share the burden of a child’s guilt; the righteousness of the righteous shall be accounted to him alone, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be accounted to him alone.

Moreover, if the wicked one repents of all the sins that he committed and keeps all My laws and does what is just and right, he shall live; he shall not die.

None of the transgressions he committed shall be remembered against him; because of the righteousness he has practiced, he shall live.

Is it my desire that a wicked person shall die?—says the L-d G-D. It is rather that he shall turn back from his ways and live.

May HaShem, Blessed be He continue to Bless us all and may we all be forever written in the Book of Life.

O’Amein and O’Amein

A little about me: I love HaShem, TORAH, and Tanakh!!!!! I am not perfect!!!!

If we meet: We talking about Torah, drinking tea or coffee, and what books are out about HaShem! And maybe over some kosher pizza… maybe over some kosher steak…make over super sweet kosher cake ……. have a fun laugh about you guess it… Torah! Or on a bike, or  during a hike,  or while riding on a train in the rain as the rain falls nicely on the plain in Spain….., but either way…..We’ll be talking about TORAH!!!!

What is import to me:……..A relationship with Our Father  HaShem Our Merciful Creator, Savior, and Wise King. Live in Torah, live with Family and community of Tribe.

My thoughts: We may not be perfect, but we study, we learn, we laugh, & we grow; we try try and have the courage to try again.

My goals: To learn and grow and share Love of Torah in HaShem with others who are willing or open to hearing.

I have been using the minds.com account and

Rumble (Live Bible Study video Post: Rumble  )

as main accounts.

Lastly, NEVER LOSE FAITH!!!!

Let’s continue to Fear and Love HaShem like a משיח and Pray.
PRAY FOR OUR NATION, enemies, fellows, and many lost Sons and Daughters of Torah to return to HaShem Blessed be He for ever and ever Amen.

HaShem IS ON THE MOVE!!!!!
